Mobile First for Students – Development of a modular student app as a new digital solution for higher education institutions

The “Mobile First for Students” project pursues the ambitious goal of making mobile devices a central tool for students. The focus is on the development of a modular student app called youni that integrates existing university systems, thereby enabling students to accomplish a wide range of tasks in their everyday academic lives. Universities now have access to an attractive digital solution that is free, highly customizable and easy to use. This paper highlights the underlying motives, describes the technological approach and range of functions, and provides an outlook on future developments.
