Mathematics in engineering study programmes as an example for applied research in higher education

We present the results of a project that integrated a research and intervention cooperation between an academic development unit and academic teachers in four engineering study programmes at a university of applied sciences. We discuss the methodological challenges that arise in an intertwined research design aiming for quality enhancement in higher education.
