This paper discusses an approach that uses smartphones and tablets as experimental tools (iMobilePhysics; iMP). Two iMP examples for school and university are presented and discussed in terms of the design criteria of Mobile-assisted Seamless Learning (MSL). The two examples include studies on the effectiveness of learning and the acceptance of the iMP approach. The results support the proposal to include experiments using smartphones and tablet PCs as mobile experimental tools in schools and universities, and thereby to support MSL, especially in teacher training.
