Teacher training programmes support teachers in acquiring professional skills. Although writing has proved to be a significant learning tool, and academic writing skills are essential for graduating successfully, many teacher training programmes do not systematically incorporate writing skills. In this paper, we argue that writing is so important that it should be given greater consideration in the basic module of training programmes, as well as in the add-on module. Finally, we offer suggestions on how to intensify the inclusion of writing research and practice.
