"Engineers who don't write well end up working for engineers who do write well." (Poe et al., 2010). Due to the great importance of writing skills for scientists and engineers, universities must offer opportunities for students to practice and improve their writing skills. For this reason, a communication-intensive writing project has been introduced in the practical physics laboratory at the RWTH Aachen University. Within this project, students write short research articles and give each other peer feedback. This article describes the writing project in detail and discusses its applicability to other courses.
