Although problem-based learning is an integrated part of universities, this method still plays a subordinate role in technically oriented study programs. University entrance qualifications have become diverse, and a heterogeneous student body demands highly flexible teachers who can use various didactic approaches and methods. Teaching experience has shown that while students have varying levels of technical/scientific knowledge, they neither know nor can they explain their competences. To cope with this balancing act, a laboratory form has been developed which focuses on problem-based learning and combines it with other teaching methods. With this approach, students become active by getting directly involved.
