This paper describes a project at the University of Marburg that helps individuals choose a suitable course of study. Based on scientifically established requirements analysis, target-group-oriented websites for each course of study were created that provide valid and comprehensive information for prospective students. As a second step, course-specific online self-assessments were devloped to provide a tool for a realistic estimation of one’s own fit. The aim of this paper is to synthesize the practical experience acquired and to provide guidance for the execution of similar projects.
