"Actually, it's mostly the computational skills taught at school that our students lack at the beginning of their engineering studies." This quote from a professor of mathematics provides an accurate characterisation of the typical situation at the University of Applied Sciences Münster, which led to the initiation of an interdisciplinary "mathematics bridge" supported by five departments. The Rechenbrücke project is based on experience with diverse student support measures at the university level, as well as expertise in the area of mathematical education. This knowledge was used to establish a new, comprehensive concept, which is introduced in this paper. In addition, the paper presents the initial results of a pilot study.
