Preliminary courses are a way to build bridges to university-level mathematics. This paper presents an integrated approach that recommends a specific preliminary course to students based upon their performance on a voluntary pre-test. The contents of this course take into account the "potential" and the "previous knowledge" of the students. In addition, the concept includes a way to work on deficits from the beginning by using a training software called "the mathematics workshop" as well. So-called "workshop evenings", where special mathematical problems are reviewed in the form of lectures, offer a supporting concept. Thus, a complete package is provided for all departments, from which individual aspects can be selected.
