This case study describes how the embedding of a math app can foster activation and self-regulated learning when studies begin studying at university. The app can be used in any typical classroom (in the present example, by 400 attendees of a preparation course). Comprehensive on-demand explanations support phases with active practice, even for significantly diverse student groups, and offer seamless assistance at home as well. The app approach shows a broad acceptance, and due to its mobility, it can assist in learning settings that cannot be served by e-learning solutions that are optimized for PC or laptop usage. The app’s content for the transition from (high) school to university incorporates the cross-university COSH minimum requirement catalog for mathematics.
