This paper describes the concept of the "Treffpunkt Mathematik" ("meeting point mathematics") offered for students in natural sciences, engineering, and computer science at the TU Darmstadt. The "Treffpunkt" is a new interdisciplinary course designed to bridge the gap between the introductory mathematics classes and the engineering and science classes. Thus, it meets a special requirement of generation Y: explaining why the a priori abstract mathematical methods are important to their field of study.
