Transitions in peoples’ lives are a frequently discussed issue. However, these discussions often focus on institutional aspects rather than on individual matters, such as the question of how individuals perceive and act in transition periods. This paper seeks to fill this knowledge void by analysing a particular transition in the higher education sector, namely the transition from bachelor’s to master’s programmes, from a student perspective. Initial results of research into how students from economic sciences study programmes act during these transition periods at the University of Paderborn are presented and discussed.
