The phases and processes of designing study programmes are complex and may be taxing for universities. However, they are not as impenetrable as one might assume. By conducting a sequential analysis of the relevant factors and then linking the results to new options for managing these factors, universities can gain the support they need to fulfil their tasks and create high-value, consistent study programmes. This paper seeks to encourage universities to better understand their own mechanisms. It enables them to leave behind their reactive practices by obtaining new perspectives and to gain freedom and autonomy by reflecting on mandatory tasks and identifying ways of managing them.
