One crucial element of the newly created Bachelor programmes in Germany is an obligatory internship. Which expectations concerning internships do undergraduates and internship representatives at universities and mentors of internships in companies have? For a demand analysis interviews were conducted. Internship representatives at universities expect from internships that the students gain experience and get an insight into vocational fields. Students expect to gain professional and social competencies whereas mentors of internships already expect them. Representatives at universities and mentors in companies both whish a stronger cooperation. The preparation for internships at universities needs to be improved. Furthermore, a certain length of internships is demanded. Based on these results, helpful suggestions for the development of curricula can be given.
