An interdisciplinary team at the Faculty of Engineering at Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University Mannheim has designed a learning platform for applied mathematics. The initial point was to promote teenagers’ basic math skills by means of a practical approach. The first step was to implement an online test that enables young people to check their basic knowledge in mathematics. Experience so far shows a considerable acceptance of the program: Since its launch, the site has been visited about 11.000 times and 6.400 tests have been completed. This report describes the project’s goals and the function of the self-test which is being used as a stimulus to get engaged with mathematics.
