Fostering interdisciplinary research competence: Teaching and learning with and from one another
Main Article Content
Higher education has rarely addressed research competencies (e.g. writing and publishing scientific papers, adhering to research ethics, participating in interdisciplinary debates on cutting-edge scientific topics). A team of eight teachers from four science departments at Bielefeld University was assembled to convey these complex skills within the framework of a masters-level seminar on “interdisciplinary research competence”. This paper shows how science students profit from cooperative teaching and learning in the course “BiNaturE”, as they prepare to write and publish their first research paper.
