“Studieren mit Profil” – an innovative learning environment for developing personal competence

German universities are still searching for appropriate concepts to enhance students’ awareness of their own competencies. This awareness is considered a prerequisite for a successful “shift from teaching to learning”. By implementing the project “Studieren mit Profil” (SmP), the University of Koblenz-Landau is meeting this didactic challenge. The project aims to build student awareness of their individual responsibility for developing their competencies in order to realize a meaningful learning process. SmP supports students in their attempt to build personal competence and offers both structured advice concerning the acquisition of competencies during their studies and assistance for entering the professional world.
