Competence-oriented methods training with Geographic Information Systems
Main Article Content
Academic rigour and employability are complementary objectives of university teaching and learning. Defining learning outcomes and adopting competence orientation has become a formal principle of contemporary academic instruction. Using methods training with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as an example, this paper outlines an established and transferable concept for competence-oriented teaching and learning to support the students’ cumulative competence development. The core elements of the concept are competence-oriented project work and learning activites that are combined and conducted through suitable assignments and teamwork across courses.
