This article presents main aspects of manifold e-learning cooperations among institutions of Higher Education in Germans Freestate of Saxony. Based on details about the structural and organizational background, a characterization of established policies, services and technologies is given. Particularly the article describes the BPS Bildungsportal Sachsen GmbH, an university-owned company that provides joint services like the central Saxon e-learning platform OPAL. Further cases of cooperation between the involved institutions are shown and regional indicators of success are discussed.
