Employability as a goal for german higher education reform inherits the danger of being limited in meaning towards a mirror of functional requirements. In a wider sense the meaning has to include the requirements of science, occupations and individuals. Research-oriented concepts of teaching and learning have the Potenzial to foster employability, if they are oriented towards the occupational domain. The Potenzials are highlighted and possibilities of a domain- resp. subject-specific concepts of research oriented forms of teaching and learning are addressed.
