In this article we will introduce the area “teaching and learning” from the Office for Internal Counselling and Further Education (IFB) at Ruhr-Universität Bochum. In this context, we will focus on the description of our ‘philosophy’: IFB views lecturers and students as experts of their own teaching and learning conditions, and their learning process. Hence, they are actively involved in organising our further education and counselling formats – both in terms of their contents and their conception. Further we will introduce the three-pillar-model that guides our work, which is subdivided into individual, faculty-specific and interdisciplinary courses. Finally, we will discuss the interrelations between these different formats.
