In the autumn of 2010, a project entitled “LehrendenCoaching” was established at the Cologne University of Applied Sciences. In the spring of 2011, the president’s office and the senate declared it a mandatory program for all newly appointed professors. The goal of the programme is to provide individual coaching assistance to new lecturers to help them improve their teaching skills. In addition, a peer-coaching system was established, which also offers experienced lecturers the opportunity to benefit from working with professional coaches on a voluntary basis. Thus, the LehrendenCoaching is primarily targeted towards newly appointed professors, but is also open for experienced lecturers.
