Fostering a collaborative learning culture has become an important goal in higher education. This report describes the implementation by the Center for Teaching and Learning at Bielefeld University of a Teaching Analysis Poll (TAP) as a qualitative form of mid-term evaluation and describes our initial experiences. We suggest that the TAP method of evaluation contributes significantly to the establishment of a collaborative learning environment by opening up a dialogue to which all of the parties involved – teachers, students, faculty developers – can contribute their perspectives and knowledge. We conclude with practical advice for implementing TAP.
