The teaching award “campusemerge“ aims at the encouragement of academic teachers to present their concepts on technology enhanced teaching and learning to a wider public. As a side-effect of the innovative competition concept which involved public voting and commenting, participants started to network informally. Based on these newly spun contacts, the Center of Excellence in Lower Saxon Higher Education (CELSHE) developed a new format of academic development: University teachers themselves act as trainers for other lecturers in their discipline and share their subject-specific didactic knowledge. With the development of this training format, we want to introduce innovations of teaching and learning into Higher Education as recommended by the Science Council (2008, p. 70).
