Most of the time, the reason given for the necessity of cross-curricular cooperation is that it is expected to generate new perspectives and results in research. However, a reason particularly relevant for teaching is to strengthen students’ cross curricular problem solving competencies. Focussing on the development of these competencies, the following article will explain not only how a cross disciplinary cooperation (and a cross disciplinary “learning from each other”) can aid the development of students’ competencies. In addition, it will demonstrate why it is in fact an essential part for the development of students’ cross curricular problem solving competencies that faculty learn from each other.
