Students that learn while researching and even grow into the role of (young) academics have been underpart in universities so far. In times of Bolgona, it is not impossible to link teaching to research and foster research-based teaching among students. Based on an outline of the problem, the “Augsburger Forschungswolke” is an approach for fostering students’ research actions. It also aims to function as a personal learning environment. Following, connections to the concept of research-based teaching are described and chances and limitations for the student as a self-assessor are presented. Finally, potentials of the Forschungswolke will be critically reflected against the background of current developments in universities.
