How do students study? This paper asks for the coping with structures and rules in higher education by students. In which context do structures and personal competences stand? Does structure influence time investment? It shows that there is no correlation between investeded workload and the feeling of cognitive overload. A lot of other points are also responsible for exposure. One point is that Universities are also responsible for the way their students act and feel. This paper trys to explain which facts are dominant. It provides ideas of how to judge different student studies. The whole paper is based on a student survey at the Stiftung Universität Hildesheim.
