Criticism about the implementation of the Bologna Accords in Germany particularly aims at the increased workload for students. On the basis of the results of the project ZEITLast, the paper describes the importance of changing the course structure from the traditional parallel way to sequential courses, so called block models. Based on the diary method it can be shown that this reorganisation leads to a relief of the applied work load for the students. A further result is that the contentedness with the course of studies could be reduced by having exams taking place at the end of each thematic block.
