Due to all extra stresses and strains concerning professional and family life as well as a permanent lack of time, extra-occupational distance learning might be regarded as some sort of a curse at first glance. On the other hand, there are some advantages to be named as well: Knowledge which has already been acquired in previous trainings combined with practical working experience is able to facilitate approaching the subject to be learned. It may even lead to a better comprehension of this matter. Moreover, studying at a distance university and taking part in working life at the same time can help to apply what has been learned. However, what does actual everyday reality of distance learning students look like? How do they cope with conflicting priorities of their studies, professional and family life?
