Quality management is one of the most important new developing spheres of activity that evolves from the increasing autonomy in higher education institutions. Therefore, the developments in this field are a good example to show the emergence of a “third space” profession that is located between academics and administration. The developments come along with tendencies of professionalisation. Among the manifold of changes for the future are the necessity to continuously professionalise the employees in quality management, to establish greater acceptance of this group and to improve the organisational framework.
