Decisions concerning education are a major interest and topic of reserch in higher education. After the adaption to the Bologna-structure the new second decision to study between the bachelor and the master level is currently being discussed. Concepts of subject-oriented transition research offer interesting ideas and a connection between psychological and sociological approaches to making this decision. The second part of this article consists of an analysis of potential factors impacting the decision-making process of the participants and a comparison between future master students and those who pursue a career according to indicators of social structure.
