In order to prepare students for digital conditions in today’s society, higher education must introduce innovative concepts. This is especially crucial for student teachers, who need to foster those competencies in classrooms by incorporating interdisciplinary approaches. For this reason, the VReiraum project established an interdisciplinary makerspace in higher education in collaboration with six disciplines, which already use virtual reality and augmented reality in their teaching.
