Based on current challenges in digital transformation within higher education, this paper proposes the concept of ambidexterity as a possible solution-oriented perspective for higher education. This concept emphasises the need to enable simultaneous innovation and adaptability, as well as balancing stability and optimisation. The paper also presents a values- and principles-based perspective that emphasizes the importance of agility as a guiding principle for addressing complex problems. The two perspectives of ambidexterity and agility are blended and classified under the umbrella of the transdisciplinary agile educational leadership framework. The paper concludes with a critical disussion and an outlook for the future.
