This paper analyses and classifies the contributions in this special issue from the German higher education landscape perspective. To this end, it seeks to identify current trends in Germany and to refer to similar research projects, funding measures, and publications that, ideally, are emblematic of general tendencies in German higher education teaching but can also feature anecdotal evidence or have predictive value. Finally, this paper argues that, although there are many strong similarities between the Austrian and German systems, some examples from Austria can be seen as role models for German higher education teaching.
