eInformatics@Austria – Basic online education in computer science with 7 MOOCs

In the eInformatics@Austria project, five Austrian universities are developing online courses for basic computer science education. The aim of the project is to develop seven Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) of high scientific, pedagogical and artistic quality. The MOOCs will be published on the iMooX online platform. The target audience consists of university students and teachers, talented pupils and teachers at schools, as well as people interested in a basic education in computer science. This article explains the development process for the MOOCs and discusses the experiences and “lessons learned” during the development and launch of the MOOCs.
