Due to the complexity of many modern questions, serious games at the university are also considered important in theology. This view was verified by a literature review based on the following questions: Where does learning take place? Which topics and theological subjects are addressed? How are theory, empiricism and practice intertwined? Which teaching and learning objectives are pursued, with what time requirements, and with which financial or technical accessibility? How is the normative orientation of theology addressed? The results show that institutions must continue to invest resources in the development of serious games within theology if the participants themselves are to experience the perspective of hope and meaning often proclaimed by theology.
