In a prospective study of a sample of 839 enrollers to medical studies at the Medical University of Vienna we collected performance indicators (schoolmarks, discipline specific knowledge, general and discipline specific learning capacity) and correlated them with study success (admission to the second study year). Although mainly significant, none of the factors showed a relevant discriminatory power to serve as selection criterion for admission to medical studies.
