Hybrid, blended synchronous and Hyflex teaching – Opportunities, risks and conditions for success

Due to competing desires to return to face-to-face teaching, maintain flexibility in course participation and (currently) comply with distance rules, universities and colleges are increasingly facing the question of how hybrid teaching can function and what exactly is understood by hybrid teaching. This paper first describes the terminology currently being used to research and discuss hybrid teaching and then identifies the opportunities and risks, as well as presenting concrete ideas for implementing hybrid teaching.
