This paper examines the studyability of BA programmes for international students and the role of study preparation in ‘Studienkollegs’. Research indicates that the student drop-out rate for international students in German BA programmes is twice as high as in MA programmes. First, we show how BA and MA programs differ regarding their studyability for international students. Second, we present the functions of ‘Studienkollegs’ and explore how actors in different fields such as schools, higher education, politics assess their effectiveness regarding the improvement of
studyability of BA programs.
