Didactics have to play a crucial role in current process of higher education reform. But the actual rhetoric of reform should not be the main focus of the considerations. Instead there should be different concepts for different types of higher education institutions. For research universities this means to concentrate mainly on scientific advance. This would ensure the central support of the academic staff for the necessary reforms. The article is structured as follows: After a short introduction we present the actual paradigma of reform, especially aiming at higher competition in the field. This is confronted in part 3 with our own ideas. A conclusion ends the text.
