By teaching students how to act in an interdisciplinary setting, higher education institutions can prepare them to face the challenges of our modern society and to perform professional tasks. These institutions can also balance highly specialized study programmes. This paper describes systematically four modules, how to aquire the ability to act in interdisciplinary settings. The University of Applied Sciences Coburg designed these modules by means of a so called IHA-model and tested them. This model provides the basis for a dialog on teaching/learning environments suitable for building the competencies needed to work in an interdisciplinary setting.
