The Start-up and Entrepreneurial Experience. A survey conducted among the academic staff at Swiss universities of applied sciences

Today, the academic staff of universities of applied sciences is expected to possess not only scientific but also professional experience.This paper examines the extent to which start-up experience and entrepreneurial practice – as part of this specific “dual qualification profile” of academics at Swiss universities of applied sciences – can be identified. Further, characterics of the companies founded or run by university staff are highlighted. The analysis is based on cross-sectional data from 2019, collected in an online survey at seven public universities of applied sciences in Switzerland.
