Teaching awards have become established in the German-speaking area, but what significance do winners of a teaching award attribute to this award? Have they been invited to pass on their teaching expertise – and are they willing to do so? This paper presents selected findings from a Swiss study on teaching awards and discusses both the individual meaning of teaching awards and the impact of teaching awards on institutional faculty development.
