Resisting ambiguities – Building diversity awareness with artistic projects in higher education

Artistic and aesthetic methods applied within higher education projects show potential for the development of diversity awareness among the participants. From 2016 to 2020, RUB arts & culture international (inSTUDIESplus) at Ruhr-Universität Bochum successfully implemented several formats which explored and tested these methods. This project-based approach offers experience-based education spaces that enable engagement with diversity literacy, tolerance towards ambiguity and transcultural skills. As a result, a breeding ground for diversity awareness is created.
