Making excellence inclusive – The excellence case as a link between equity and business cases

This paper argues that the recently developed excellence case can be viewed as an answer to the question of how universities could become more inclusive and excellent. The ‘excellence case’ is explicated using the diversity policy of the University of California, Berkeley. Here, it is assumed that the rationales for how organisations could or should respond to diversity are closely linked to the organisational goals, but also to relevant drivers in their organisational enviroment.
