Educational equity is becoming increasingly important in diversity management. With the project SHK-Stellen für Studierende der ersten Generation and the programme Erste Generation Promotion Mentoring+, the University of Cologne has launched two initiatives that are unique in Germany and address first-generation students and doctoral candidates. The measures offer concrete support for the target group and involve as many different university status groups as possible. The aim is to bring about a change in university culture for greater educational equity.
