This study gathered the user requirements of students and teachers for a game-based e-learning application by means of playful prototyping, and then examined the resulting requirements via content analysis. The requirements serve as a basis for further development steps in the specific use context. It is expected that acceptance of the application could be increased by the early involvement of users in a user-centered design process. The experiences gained through the design process provide general implications for the development of e-learning applications at universities.
