Participants in further education courses in the field of public health bring a wide range of competences with them, and academic institutions must be able to apply effective didactic methods to address these heterogeneous participants. Within the joint research project “Creation of vocational courses in the care and health sciences”, which was funded by the Ministry of Education and Research, a self-assessment was developed for the beginning of the study course. The test results help the lecturers to reach out to the participants and thus optimise the learning process within the multidisciplinary field of public health. The initial results show promise for potentially improving participants’ learning outcomes.
