Based on theoretical considerations, this paper presents the design of a flexible online course for the professional development of lecturers in the areas of didactics in higher education and, in particular, instructional design with digital media. The course includes synchronous and asynchronous teaching and learning phases. Two different levels of participation are possible. We evaluated the effects by means of a pre-post study. The findings showed that the exemplary procedure described here is suitable for the design of professional development offers in the field of university teaching with a focus on the didactic planning of technology-enhanced courses.
