This paper presents the results of a survey conducted among students and faculty members at an Austrian University. The study investigated the areas of learning in which students would prefer more fexibility and to what extent these preferences differ from faculty members’ perceptions. The results show that student preferences and faculty member perceptions are similar in some areas. However, for other aspects (e.g. time, content, teaching resources, support, assessment, content delivery), students value fexibility more than faculty members. Statistical differences showed large effect sizes.
